Two Best Valentine’s Day Gifts for Your Boyfriend this 2012
By: Laarni Faba-an

Are you tired of thinking about the best gift to give your special someone this Valentine’s Day? Sometimes you want to give him a present which he never received before. Why not try getting out of those crowded gift shops and create an item to give a personal touch? You may try one of the following Valentine’s day gifts:

1. Personalized wallet

Materials to use: beads, needle, thread, wallet

Simple is beautiful. You don’t need to decorate the entire wallet to make it classy. You may want to sew the beads forming him name or just simply thread the beads to form a heart and you’re done! (You can also write a personal message and arrange it inside the wallet). You can also do this not only to wallets but also to pair of pillows, cups, caps, etc.

2. Picture collage

Not having enough time? You may select your pictures (recommended: old pictures from when you both started your relationship) then print them in various sizes. Design a collage according to your preference. You can create a square or heart shaped or any shape you want. And again, write a personal message either at the back or any area you want it.

While it is wonderful to give gifts to this valentine, the best gift to give still to your special someone is your time and heart. Happy Valentines!

Basic Steps on How to Make Videos
By: Chamberlane Altatis

Movies, music videos, documentaries… Do you want to make one of those? If you say yes then it’s about time to learn how to make videos.

You might have been watching a lot of videos lately and now you also want to make one. That’s great and I can tell you that you can surely do so. You don’t actually need to go to a university and be a “professional” for you to become a filmmaker. Just follow the steps I will give you here and begin applying them.

Steps on Making Your Own Film

1. Generate An Idea

So what kind of film do you want to make? Is it a short film, music video or what? Whatever it is, you must start by visualizing a lot on what you want your video will look like. You can share it to others as well and ask if your idea is good. You can even ask for some suggestions from your friends too.

2. Put Your Idea into Paper

When you now have a great idea, it’s time to write it down. Your idea will never be concrete unless it is put into writing. This step is called script writing (screenwriting for movies) in film making.

There is a format in writing a script for videos but to be honest, you don’t have to follow it strictly. All you have to do here is write a narrative script about  the film then make a two-column script – one column for the audio and one for the video. Just place the sounds like dialogues and music in the audio part and all the visuals in the video. You can even make a storyboard by drawing the scenes that you want to shoot. This will serve as your guide map during shooting.

3. Time to Shoot Videos

When your script is ready, it’s now time to call your actors and actresses, bring your camcorder, and start shooting videos based on your script. You must not be limited by your script though. It is good to get as many shots as possible for you to have more choices during the editing process.

In shooting videos, you must take many kinds of shots for variation. You can shoot close ups and wide shots and try varying your angle to many places. You will realize how useful this is during the editing.

4. Edit Those Videos

You need technical skills to do this part. You can use any video editing software you like by choosing the one that is handy for you.

In editing, try to divide your story into three main parts – intro, body, and ending. In the intro part, try adding enticing effects to make your first part interesting. You must minimize the effects in the body though and let your audience focus on the story and not on your effects. In the end part, leave your audience again with some great visuals.

So basically, those are the steps on how to make your own video. Those are just basic principle though and you can always break the rule. And the best way to learn really is by doing things yourself. Happy video making!
