Engage in social networks, forums, and online communities
Even before, I already knew that I can use social networks such as Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter to gain more traffic to my sites. However, it is only then that I realized that I was not using them properly. I was just sharing my site content here and there but I really don’t engage with other people that much. I focused too much on SEO and I was just hoping that those social sites can pass on link juices to my sites, to boost their ranking. Another mistake that I often do is to directly sell to people in social networks, who are not really interested with my product or service.
I realized that I have to be more personal in my approach, that is, I must be there to offer solution to others’ problems. The key here is to find online communities like forums and groups related to your niche. Join those places and be active inside. However, don’t be there to sell your products directly. Rather, communicate with other members and just “soft-pitch” your products or services. You can share some firsthand experiences about a certain product that helped you in some ways. You can then refer them to your site where you made a complete review about that product.
There are various places where you can grab free traffic aside from the common social networks and forums. However, it is a matter of how you spend time to communicate with other people within the community.
